Small things. Great love.

A founder watched someone he loved have nowhere to turn. Not because love was missing, but because the systems built to help had forgotten what love looks like. Mothers Foundation began with one belief: that a mother's love is the most powerful force for healing we know, and we're building it one small thing at a time, starting in Edmonton.

02

Who we are

Mothers Foundation is a newly named organization built on an old idea: that love, when it's unconditional, is the most practical form of help there is.

We exist to build toward stable housing and support for people who need somewhere safe to land, and to learn, honestly and carefully, what mental health and wellness actually require. Not in theory. Starting in Edmonton.

We're early, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. Right now we're building the foundation itself: relationships, process, the properties we manage, before we build anything bigger. That's not a delay. It's how this gets done right.

Our values

  • Love: unconditional, the starting point for everything.
  • Dignity: every person is seen as whole, never as a case.
  • Honesty: we tell the truth about what the system does and doesn't do.
  • Humility: we start small, do it right, and grow from there.
  • Courage: we talk about mental health even when it's uncomfortable.

03

What we do

Right now, our work is property management: careful, unglamorous, and necessary. Mothers Foundation currently operates 2 rental units on the south side of Edmonton, learning everything that goes into running a home well before we ask anyone to trust us with more. We're looking to add more as we grow.

Housing is next. As we grow, we'll move from managing property to providing homes directly (not units, homes) for people who need one.

We're building this in order: steady first, bigger later.

04

Why it matters

Across Edmonton, the math is simple, and it doesn't work: AISH or ADAP doesn't come close to covering the cost of a decent place to live. That gap is where people fall through. Not because they didn't try, but because the system was never built to catch them.

We talk about this because silence doesn't fix it. Mental health and housing are tangled together: you can't heal without somewhere safe to do it, and it's hard to find somewhere safe without support most systems don't offer.

This is the broken thing we're working to fix. Slowly. Honestly.

05

How to help

We're not asking for anything yet, except attention. Follow what we're building, hear about it honestly, and be ready to help when the moment is right.

There's no donation button here. Not because we don't need help, but because we're not going to ask for money we can't yet account for properly. When that changes, you'll be the first to know.

For now, here's what you can do.
